At the beginning of 2021, I raised capital, rented an office, and began setting up a software company. The project stopped two months later when a partner withdrew. It felt like a painful failure then, but later became a lesson that prevented a much larger commitment before I was ready.
After years of exposure to management, operations, growth, hiring, team building, and customer service, I understood that enthusiasm and technical skill were not enough. I am still learning the business side before starting a company in the right way.
Building a company requires an understanding of markets, customers, operations, cash flow, partnerships, risk, timing, and the ability to continue after enthusiasm fades and difficult details begin. Taking time to learn is not retreat; it may be what makes the next start more mature and sustainable.
