Connect Every Deployment to a Clear Git Release

Tags and releases make changes traceable, simplify deployment comparisons, and connect errors to the version where they appeared.

Assigning a version to each deployment gives the team a shared reference point. It becomes easy to identify what entered production, compare two releases, and find the commits associated with an incident without relying on guesswork or timestamps alone.

Create an annotated tag such as v5.1.4 for the deployed commit, push it to the repository, and create a GitHub Release. The platform can generate initial notes from merged pull requests, but the notes should be reviewed and written to explain changes that matter to users and the team.

Send the same version identifier to monitoring tools such as Sentry and to the deployment log. When an error appears, the team can identify the first affected and last healthy release and inspect the difference. Use a consistent versioning policy, and never move a published tag; a release must remain a trustworthy reference.
